Winnipeg: Only Zach Bogosian (upper body/foot) is injured, he is listed as questionable. Ondrej Pavalec gets the start.
Phoenix Coyotes vs. Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton: Theo Peckham (face) and Nikolai Khabibulin (groin) are out while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (shoulder) and Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson (knee) are questionable. Devan Dubnyk starts.
Washington Capitals vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Washington: Nicklas Backstrom (head) and Tom Poti (groin) are out. Tomas Vokoun is expected to start.
Toronto: You know what they say "A healthy Leafs team is...uh...a less mediocre Leafs team." James Reimer might start.
Boston Bruins vs. Ottawa Senators

The Week(day) Before The Trade Deadline
The title is fitting since Saturday and Sunday are the weekend. Anyway, all I know is that I'll be in classes Monday and won't be able to sit down to TSN or Sportsnet and attempt not to fall asleep over a potentially boring day, reasons why later.
So lets dust off the ole trade analysis machine and see what it has to say about the activities over the past dozen or so days.
To Anaheim: Riley Holzapfel
To Winnipeg: Maxime Macenauer
Trade Analysis:If you ever wanted to see a minor league deal, this is it. Is it bad that I only know of Macenauer through NHL Eastside Manager?
Anaheim: Ryan O'Marra
Edmonton: Bryan Rodney
Trade Analysis: Another minor league deal, but more major. At this point it's hard not to feel sorry for O'Marra. A former first rounder who seemed to have never got a decent shot in the NHL despite being more than a point-per-game AHLer.
Philadelphia: Nicklas Grossman
Dallas: 2nd-round pick (2012), 3rd-round pick (2013)
Trade Analysis: The Flyers really need scoring on the blueline. But this isn't the trade for that. Instead, they get a good shutdown d-man. Might have overpaid.
San Jose: Dominic Moore, 7th-round pick (2012)
Tampa Bay: 2nd-round pick (2012)
Trade Analysis: Note to self: if there is any trade rumours involving Dominic Moore, listen to this guy.
Nashville: Hal Gill, conditional 5th-round pick (2013)
Montreal: Blake Geoffrion, Robert Slaney, 2nd-round pick (2012)
Trade Analysis: Yes, that's exactly what the Preds need, another big d-man. But there is only one thing I care about in this deal/ Not Gill leaving the Habs, not Slaney (a career minor leaguer), not the picks, its the fact that THE HABS GOT A GEOFFRION!!! Um...still #FireGauthier
Philadelphia: Pavel Kubina
Tampa Bay: Jon Kalinski, 2nd-round pick (2012 or 2013), 4th-round pick (2012)
Trade Analysis: Well, it looks like somebody misses Pronger. Kubina (unlike Grossman) should add a bit of scoring from the blueline - despite it looking like a down year for him. Jon Kalinski was only added because of a dumb rule saying that teams are only allowed to have 50 guys under contract. More on that rule later.
Colorado: Steve Downie
Tampa Bay: Sebastien Piche, Detroit's 1st-round pick (2012)
Detroit: Kyle Quincey
Trade Analysis: Ooooh a three-way, how sexy. How this worked was the Tampa traded Downie to the Avs for Quincey. Then Tampa flipped him to Detroit for Piche and the 1st-rounder. Colorado gets the sandpaper they need, Detroit depth on the blueline just got deeper, and Tampa is set for a mini-rebuild. I wonder though if Yzerman wasn't the GM would he have gotten a 1st from Detroit.
Chicago: Matt Fornataro
Tampa Bay: Brandon Segal
Trade Analysis: Ok Tampa we get it, your in selling mode...even at a minor league level.
Phoenix: Antoine Vermette
Columbus: Curtis McElhinney, 2nd-round pick (2012), 5th-round pick (2013)
Trade Analysis: Yes, finally the franchise goalie Columbus needs. Ok, not really...and he;s injured for the rest of the season. Vermette although should be a welcomed addition to the Coyotes during there playoff push.
Los Angeles: Jeff Carter
Columbus: Jack Johnson, 1st-round pick (2012)
Trade Analysis: 2 ways of answering this trade:
1. Civilized: Los Angeles gets the scoring they need while Columbus can kick-start their rebuild. Of course with Carter gone, any Trade Deadline special just got duller.
2. Non-Civilized: OOOOOOH SNAP! NON-DRY ISLAND REUNION Y'ALL!

What Did I Miss?
A lot apparently. So here are a few things I remember.
Tim Thomas On Facebook
Just shut up!
If your willing to post something, then get ready for a media backlash. This did start because of his reason for the Presidential snub was posted there. If he was any regular athlete, he would address to the media and we would go on with our lives. Instead we get regular updates on what he post on Facebook.
And it's not just him, the media did blow this out of proportion (then again, are you surprised?).
Thomas has to start shutting up and stopping the puck, Boston hasn't been since the snub first happened. Wait, let me re-read what I just wrote.
uhmmm, yep. On second thought, post something every minute. And since I'm on the Boston-bashing topic:
Chara Takes Puck To Face, Habs Fans Rejoice
And yes, I was one of them.
First off, who says fans weren't cheering because Chara kept the puck in. If he wasn't there the puck might have went over the glass. Good enough explanation? No? dammit!
I can't think of a better argument then what the Wysh said:
Detroit's Home Winning Streak
I thought that San Jose would end the streak last game, I was wrong. If they beat Vancouver, then their next tough would be Chicago (they play Minnesota and Colorado, but I doubt they will be that much of a challenge).
Columbus (Rumoured) Fire Sale
MOVE HIM!
He has been like a petulant child since he was traded there and hasn’t stopped whining. He hasn’t been the center needed for Nash and is becoming a shadow of his former self.
As for Nash, as much as everyone wants him, I think it’s best if he stays in Columbus. For one, he’s basically the franchise. If he goes, then bye bye Columbus hello Quebec City.
The real issue though, is allowing Scott Howson to do these trades. After this season, the only way he survives as Columbus' GM is if he is injected with cockroach DNA.
Another Clock Controversy
I'm just gonna say this. Columbus was screwed the first time, and was helped the second time. They're even in Arena-Clock Management (Trademark...it's a new advance stat).
And To Finish Off: Some Links
If you ever had to get arrested for something, this would be what I would do (KSDK)
Deadspin with your primer for Trade Deadline (and how to avoid Eklunds)
And speaking of Deadspin, Drew Magary's GQ article naming the Stanley Cup that best Sports Trophy.

I can't think of a better argument then what the Wysh said:
The player says "it's nothing to do with sports." The coach — a spectator himself — says "it's all about passion."
In this instance, I agree with the coach.
Had I watched Zdeno Chara pummel my team into oblivion for years; had I watched his superhuman efforts in the postseason eliminate my team on the regular; had I seen him put one of my favorite young players on a stretcher last season and skate by without punishment from the NHL … I would have cheered his injury.
In the moment. Without consideration that a player might have lost an eye or been concussed. In that moment, in that rivalry game, with that player having been felled, my reaction would have been to cheer.
Detroit's Home Winning Streak
Congrats to Detroit for breaking the record for consecutive home wins…and continuing it. Right now, they are at 23 straight wins at home, with Vancouver standing in there way of continuing the record later today.
I thought that San Jose would end the streak last game, I was wrong. If they beat Vancouver, then their next tough would be Chicago (they play Minnesota and Colorado, but I doubt they will be that much of a challenge).
