Leafs/Habs Live Blog - Part Deux

10:40pm - GAME OVER. Habs win 4-0. This is the second time the Habs shutout the Leafs this season, giving me the idea that I should start doing this for all of the Habs games. Thanks for joining us, not sure if/when we’ll do this again. My thoughts on the 3 games will be posted either after the Flames-Canucks game or sometime tomorrow.

10:39pm - Gionta almost makes it 4-0 with an inclose shot that just missed the top corner.

10:37pm - Darryl Boyce with a cross-check on Subban, then fired the puck at him after the whistle. 5-on-3 for the Habs.

10:36pm - With the Leaf net pulled, Joey Crabb gets a penalty for high-sticking.

10:34pm - God damn Kostitsyn, tries to clear the puck but break his stick instead. The Leafs keep the puck in the zone and MacAuthur almost scored off a tip.

10:32pm - The Leafs are getting desperate, literally shooting from everywhere (Schenn took one from centre).

10:29pm - Plekanec (again) gets a partial break, but this time a Leaf defenseman was able to tie him up to prevent a shot.

10:27pm - Leafs finally killed a penalty that was theirs.

10:24pm - Darryl Boyce with another penalty, this time tripping.

10:23pm - Desharnais tries to set up Pouliot in the slot but he couldn't get a stick on it.

10:21 pm - Leafs are now 0-for-5 on the PP tonight. Habs with a few chances afterwards.

10:17pm - Another goal, another penalty right after for the Habs. Lars Eller for hooking.

10:14pm - GOAL. Desharnais does a rink-wide give-and-goal with Gomez ask he tips the pass through Giguere. 3-0 Habs.

10:12pm - The Leafs are (somewhat) getting shots on net, but they’re from a distance, nothing of quality. Habs on the powerplay, Darryl Boyce gets called for hooking.

10:10pm - Plekanec with another breakaway (albeit a partial one), another save for Giguere.

10:06pm - The third period begans, but just before that Elliott Friedman mentioned that he wishes he could have covered a Nordiques-Habs rivalry. Well if he worked on TSN Wednesday then he could have had a similar experience.

9:47pm - Komisarek gloves the puck in front of the net, causing a faceoff, and getting away with what should be a penalty. The period ends after the faceoff. Habs 2 Leafs 0.

9:43pm - Phaneuf gets called for high-sticking, the Habs get 1:40 of PP time.

9:42pm - Leafs still get nothing going on the PP. Versteeg is starting to be this period's Wisniewski on the powerplay.

9:40pm – Kostitsyn with a stupid penalty (is there any other type of penalty for him?). He shoved a Leaf player into the boards after touching the puck for an icing.

9:36pm - Habs continue were they left off before the penalty, going back onto the attack.

9:35pm - Leafs have another unsuccessful PP. It's true that if Kaberle was willing to shoot the puck, the Habs wouldn't be able to ignore him.

9:32pm - Momentum’s gone, Habs get a too many men penalty.

9:31pm - Another goal. Almost the same as the last as Pacioretty feeds Gionta in the slot who scores. 2-0 Habs.

9:26pm - FINALLY, Desharnais gets the puck behind the Leaf net and passes to Pouliot in the slot who gets it pass Giguere. 1-0 Habs

9:22pm - After another series of back-and-forth with no results, Moen gets a pass over the blueline and trys to go shortside with no success.

9:17pm - Penalty over as the Leafs go back to their original PP philosophy: Kill your own powerplay

9:16pm - Plekanec gets a breakaway pass but couldn't finish as Giguere stopped him.

9:15pm - Hamrlik called for tripping, Leafs on their second powerplay.

9:14pm - CBC's first Kessel-Tracker shown. Kinda funny that most of the time he's in the defensive zone.

9:11pm - Habs keeping the pressure up, but not getting anything done. Versteeg almost had a breakaway but was leveled by Spacek at the Habs blueline.

9:09pm - Second period about to being, really hoping something happens here.

8:55pm - Did I mention I'd fix the last post with an update....well I'm kinda struggling with keeping up with this too. So update might have to wait until tomorrow.

8:54pm - For the most part this hasn't been a good game, the fight has been the only real highlight (and maybe one or two chances). It's still scoreless after the first period.

8:51pm - Habs with one last shot before the period ends. Easy save for Giguere.

8:49pm - Here we go, first fight of the night: Subban vs. Lupul. Subban lands a few good shots, but ends up on the ice after missing one.

8:48pm - Up to this point, it has been: Leafs shoot, Habs clear, Leafs come back, shoot, Habs clear again.

8:42pm - Habs with pressure, almost get a goal on a wrap-around attempt.

8:39pm - Leafs moving the puck really well on the PP, it's just a shame that their pointman has a no-shooting clause in his contract (along with the no-trade one)

8:38pm - Habs with their first penalty of the game. Ryan White for holding.

8:36pm - Habs turn on the offense with a blast from the point curiosity of Weber. Giguere had to stretch to make a save with the pad.

8:31pm - The Leafs get a 3-on-2, MacAuthur gets a shot off that almost got pass Price.

8:29pm - After some back-and-forth action, the Habs get one by Giguere with a shot from the point, now only if it hit the net.

8:25pm - Habs putting pressure on with a few chances in front of the Leafs net, unable to do anything.

8:23pm - Uneventful powerplay from the Habs.

8:22pm - Wisnewski is showing how much the Habs miss Markov on the PP, turned the puck over a couple times. Price also shows why Hab goalies should never try to handle the puck, almost gives it away for an easy goal.

8:20pm - First penalty of the game assessed to Ledba for interference.

8:19pm - Another whistle. As is stands right now, the Habs can't get anything going and the Leafs can't capitalize on the mistakes.

8:18pm - Kessel with two chances...from a distance, easy saves for Price.

8:17pm - The way the Habs are playing right now, it looks like they belong in the earlier game.

8:16pm – 15 seconds in and the first whistle because the net got knocked off
8:12pm-MDK: That's a midget team? Thought it was the Habs lineup
               Me: Shut up

8:11pm - Bear with me, I'm trying to edit the updates I have ready for the last post. Will try to get them up before the end of the first.

8:10pm - The Donald with his usual grand entrance. Also good to see the Governal General there too.

7:49pm - Great feature on Roger Neilson, knew about the video studing but the other behind-the-scenes stuff was interesting

7:36pm - Wow, the rights to talk about Kessel's struggles just shifted to CBC. Subban wears a HNIC toque for an interview.

7:30pm - Welcome to the second live blog featuring the Habs and Leafs. Last time the Habs won 2-0, so let's see if the Leafs can tie it up, or the Habs go...well...2-0.
