2016 World Junior Championship Preview: Group B

The World Junior Championship main tournament kicks off later today. Group B takes place at the Hartwell Arena. Finland plays host to this tournament, and will want to give the home crowd something to cheer about. Russia is probably the strongest of the group, and will want to improve on last year's silver medal. Slovakia won the bronze last year, but will be in tough to have a repeat performance. The Czech Republic look to get back on track, as they haven't won a medal since 2005. Belarus rounds out the group, and are likely to have a tough time sticking around at this level.

One Line Previews

Belarus: Interesting to see how basically Dinamo U20 plus a few players will work, hope to stay up after being promoted last year.

Czech Republic: More of a darkhorse team, might have a hard time finding a spot in the medal round.

Finland: Definitely have some weapons, will be interested to see how far they go.

Russia: Have arguably the best goalie in the tournament in Samsonov, should have no problem ending the tournament with a medal.

Slovakia: Unlikely to have the repeat goaltending from last year, still a darkhorse team though.
