Showing Some International Love: 2016 World Junior Championship - Division III Preview

Mexico host this year's Division III tournament, and sadly no outdoor game is planned this time. Iceland joins this tournament after being relegated from Division II last year. Bulgaria returns after taking last year off. Israel's are newcomers to the division. Returning from last year are New Zealand, South Africa, and Turkey.

Prediction

1 (Promoted) - Iceland
2 - New Zealand
3 - Mexico
4 - Turkey
5 - South Africa
6 - Bulgaria
7 - Israel

Iceland has a good shot to make their stay in Division III a short one. New Zealand and Mexico (who have finished second and third respectively for the past two years) aren't to be dismissed outright, but may need a bounce or two their way to steal the top spot. Turkey and South Africa have usually stayed outside the medal range, and this year looks to be no exception. That leaves Bulgaria and Israel at the bottom end of the standings. Newcomers rarely do well at this level, and that's going to hurt Israel's chances of getting anywhere. The year off did hurt Bulgaria, but they'll do just enough to settle for sixth place. Israel will likely finish in seventh.
