Showing Some International Love: 2016 IIHF World Championship Preview - Division III

Turkey host this tournament for the second straight year, and hope to end up in first after losing a close promotion game last year. South Africa was relegated to Division III last year, and hope to make their stay at this level a short one. Luxembourg ended with the bronze last year, and hope to improve on that this year. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, and Hong Kong around out the group, as each of them look to improve from last year. The United Arab Emirates was scheduled to participate, but recently backed out of this tournament.

Prediction

1 (Promoted) - Turkey
2 - South Africa
3 - Luxembourg
4 - Hong Kong
5 - Georgia
6 (Relegated) - Bosnia and Herzegovina

I see the host prevailing this time. It should be close like last year, but Turkey is poised to end up first and earn the promotion to Division II. South Africa falls just short, and stays another year in Division III. Luxembourg is in there usual spot, as they are good enough for third, but just can't quite find a way to finish higher in the standings. Hong Kong finishes in fourth for the second straight year. Georgia should be better as a team this year, but they are not good enough yet to finish higher than fifth. Bosnia and Herzegovina will be a more experienced team, but it's hard to see them earn their first win at the moment. They should finish sixth, but make a couple games much closer than last year.
