Ukraine: Ukraine took on Romania in their opening game. Yuri Petrangovsky got the scoring going five minutes into the game. Vladyslav Gavryk scored midway through the period to extend the lead. Romania added on before the period ended. Gavryk scored his second of the game midway through the second period. Ukraine added three more in the third, and Eduard Zakharchenko stopped 11 of 12 shots, as Ukraine won the game 6-1. The Ukrainians got off to a good start against Croatia. Dmytro Chernyshenko opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game. Denys Isayenko added one more before Croatia responded. Ukraine extended their one-goal lead in the second thanks to goals from Viktor Zakharov and Oleg Shafarenko. Zakharchenko had a heavier game, stopping 32 of 33 shots, as Ukraine won the game 4-1. Ukraine was ruthless against Estonia in the first. They scored twice, while outshooting the Estonians 23-7 in the opening frame. Ukraine gave up a penalty shot to Estonia early in the second, and Estonia made good on it. Ukraine scored twice late in the second, and added three more in the third. The penalty shot goal was the only one Zakharchenko, as he stopped the other 28 shots he faced. Ukraine blew out Estonia 7-1. Ukraine had a much tighter game against Lithuania. The first period was pretty even, with both teams registering 10 shots and no goals. It wasn't until late in the second, when Petrangovsky scored to put Ukraine in the lead. A penalty early in the third by Alexander Mikhnov lead to Lithuania's first goal, tying the game. Lithuania added one more midway through the third. Ukraine could not find a tying goal, as they lost the game 2-1. In the promotion game, Ukraine took on Great Britain. Ukraine was completely outplayed in the first, getting outshot 15-3 by Great Britain. They hung on though, as the score remained 0-0. Great Britain struck early in the second to open the scoring. Play would start shifting Ukraine's way in the third. Chernyshenko scored minutes into the period to tie the game. With four minutes left in regulation, Olexander Pobyedonostsev scored to out Ukraine in the lead. They would hang on to win the game 2-1, marking the fourth time in this tournament Ukraine only allowed one goal against in a game. The win propelled Ukraine to first place, where they ended up finishing. They won the gold medal as a result and are now promoted back into Group A.
Great Britain: The Brits first opponent would be Croatia. Robert Dowd got the scoring started midway through the first. Croatia responded minutes later, as the period would end in a 1-1 tie. Great Britain regained the lead minutes into the second thanks to Jonathan Weaver. Craig Peacock added one more late in the period. Colin Shields' goal in the third was the end of the scoring, as Great Britain went on to win the game 4-1.Great Britain kept it going against Estonia, as Peacock scored 26 seconds into the game. Russell Crowley added one midway through the opening frame before Estonia responded. Crowley scored 55 seconds in the second, putting the Brits back up by two. Estonia didn't stay down, scoring midway though the period. Great Britain got into some penalty trouble, which ended up costing them. Estonia scored on one of their powerplays to tie the game. Overtime was needed. Great Britain would get a powerplay. Dowd scored on the man advantage to win the game 4-3 for the Brits. Great Britain looked unstoppable against Lithuania. A shorthanded goal by Phillips put Great Britain in the lead. Ashley Tait added one more before the period end, making it 2-0 for the Brits. The second period was all the island nation, as they went off for six goals (all different goalscorers). Ben Bowns had light work, stopping 10 shots in the 8-0 shutout of Lithuania. It was much of the same against Estonia, even with Phillips scoring the opening goal. Jonathan Boxill added another one midway through the period. A pair of powerplay goals in the second doubled Great Britain's lead. Matthew Myers and Weaver scored in the third before Romania found their way on the scoreboard. Bowns once again made 10 saves, as Great Britain bead Romania 6-1. Great Britain faced off against Ukraine in what was the promotion game. The Brits looked good early on, outplaying Ukraine in the first period. Despite having the 15-3 shot advantage, Great Britain could not find the back of the net, as the period ended with both teams tied at 0-0. Jonathan Phillips changed that early in the second, scoring just under two minutes into the period. Great Britain held onto the lead until early in the third, when Ukraine struck back to tie the game. The British found themselves on the other side of the shot disparity in the third, and it cost them. Ukraine scored with four minutes left in the period. Great Britain had no answer for it, as they ended up losing the game 2-1. The loss placed Great Britain in second, where they finished once again. They ended up with the silver medal again after not being able to finish off their opponent on the last day.
Lithuania: The Lithuanians faced off against their neighbour Estonia in the first game of the tournament. Estonia opened the scoring, but goal by Mauras Baltrukonis and Ugnius Cizas later in the first put Lithuania ahead after 20 minutes. Both teams scored early in the second. Nerijus Alisauskas and Paulius Gintautas both added a pair of goals the rest of the way, as Lithuania took the game 7-2. Lithuania continued to roll against Romania. They scored twice to take a 2-0 lead midway through the first. Romania added one later in the period, cutting Lithuania's lead in half. Midway through the second, Alisauskas scored on the powerplay to restore Lithuania's two-goal lead. Arnoldas Bosas scored seconds into the third to extended the lead. A powerplay goal late in the period by Arturas Katulis capped off the scoring, as Lithuania won the game 5-1. Everything started to go against Lithuania in their game against Great Britain. It didn't look too bad in the first, as Lithuania only conceded two goals. The second would be brutal, as Great Britain exploded for six. Lithuania could not muster any offense, as they were shut out 8-0. Looking to bounce back against Ukraine, the Lithuanians played a much closer game. Scoring didn't commence until late in the second, when Ukraine scored the first of the game. Minutes into the third, Cizas scored on the powerplay to tie the game. Halfway through the third, Donatas Kumeliauskas scored to put Lithuania in the lead. They would hold on to beat Ukraine 2-1. The Lithuanians met the host Croatians in their last game. Lithuania was outshot by Croatia in the first two periods, giving up a powerplay goal late in the first. They were down until late in the third. Kumeliauskas scored with just under six minutes left in regulation to tie the game. Overtime wasn't enough, meaning a shootout was needed to slove this game. Lithuania went scoreless in the event, and ended up losing the game 2-1. The shootout loss kept Lithuania in third place, as they go home with the bronze.
Croatia: The host faced Great Britain in their opening game. The first period didn't look good for the Croatians, as they got outplayed. The Brits scored the first goal, but then got into some penalty trouble. Croatia took advantage of it, as Mislav Blagus scored on a two-man advantage to tie the game. The game slowly slipped away from Croatia in the second, as Great Britain scored twice. The Brits added one more in the third. Croatia would lose their opening game 4-1. It didn't get much better against Ukraine. The Ukrainians scored twice before a late first period goal by Luka Mikulic put Croatia on the board. Ukraine scored two more early in the second. Things heated up late in the period, with Kevin MacAulay (Croatia) and Roman Blagy (Ukraine) both getting double-minor roughing calls. The third period was similar, as a couple of times both teams were called for offsetting minors. The score stayed the same, as Croatia lost the game 4-1. Croatia's game against Romania was a different story. The Croatian offense came alive, with 10 different goalscorers (only Ivan Jankovic and Matija Milicic had a multi-goal game). Croatia won the high-scoring affair 12-5. Croatia looked to continue their offensive output against Estonia. It didn't start off well though, as Estonia scored twice in the first six minutes. Borna Rendulic scored late in the first to put Croatia on the board. Nathan Perkovich scored twice in the later half of the second to put Croatia in the lead. Mike Glumac added a powerplay goal, but Estonia managed to get a shorthanded one just a second before the middle frame expired. Croatia held on to their one-goal lead until the last minute, when Glumac added an empty netter. Croatia hung on and beat Estonia 5-3. Croatia's last opponent was Lithuania. It wasn't until late in the first when a goal was scored. Glumac's powerplay goal with under a minute remaining put Croatia up 1-0. The Croatians pressured in the second for more, but could not find a way to extend their lead. Lithuania would come back, scoring late in the third to tie the game. Overtime was rough, but neither team could find the back of the net. The shootout saw Jankovic score the only goal, resulting in Croatia winning 2-1. The host finish in fourth place.
Estonia: The Estonian's started the tournament against Lithuania. Estonia started the game off well, scoring first midway through the opening period. They couldn't end the period in the lead though, as Lithuania scored twice later in the first. It got worst for Estonia in the second. After both teams swapped early second period goals, Lithuania scored three times unanswered. Estonia changed goalies to start the third, and it helped a bit. Lithuania added one, as Estonia went on to lost the game 7-2. It started the opposite for Estonia against Great Britain. The Brits scored 26 second in to take the lead. Estonia gave up one more later in the period before Aleksandr Petrov scored. Estonia once again let up an early goal in the second. Petrov scored his second of the game later in the period, once again pulling Estonia to within a goal. Andrei Makrov scored on the powerplay in the third to tie the game. Overtime was needed, and that's when Makrov became the goat. His interference penalty led to Great Britain scoring the winning goal. Estonia lost the game 4-3 in overtime. Estonia looked to have no shot against Ukraine. The Estonians gave up two goals in the first while getting outshot 23-7. Robert Rooba received a penalty shot in early in the second, and capitalized on it, scoring to put Estonia on the board. Ukraine scored twice late in the period, as Estonia found themselves down 4-1 after 40 minutes. Estonia gave up three more in the third, ultimately losing the game 7-1. Estonia started well against Croatia, with Makrov and Rooba scoring early in the first. Estonia escaped the opening period up 2-1. Their lead lasted until midway though the second, when Croatia scored to tie the game. Estonia let up two more before Aleksi Sibirtsev scored late in the second. Estonia poured it on in the third, but could not get the equalizer. Croatia added one more, as Estonia would lose the game 5-3. Estonia faced off against Romania in the relegation game. Estonia was outplayed by Romania in the first, but the game remained 0-0. Roman Andrejev scored midway through the second to break the deadlock and put Estonia in the lead. Makrov and Vadim Vasjonkin scored later in the period. Villem-Henrik Koitmaa stopped 20 shot, as Estonia shut out Romania 3-0. The win put Estonia in fifth place, good enough to avoid being relegated and staying in Division I for another year.
Romania: Romania started off against Ukraine. It wasn't a good one for Romania, as Ukraine scored twice in the first nine minutes. Robert Peter scored on the powerplay later in the period to pull Romania to within a goal. Ukraine ended up being too much for Romania. Gellert Ruczuj stopped 42 of 48 shots, as Romania lost the game 6-1. Romania had a bit of deja vu against Lithuania, as they gave up a pair before scoring later in the first period. The shot counter was closer in this game, but once again Romania failed to score after the first period. Romania lost the game 5-1. Levente Lorincz was given a misconduct penalty at the end of the game for abuse of an official. The first period theme continued against Croatia. Romania gave up the first two, then Lorincz scored. This time, the Romanians weren't as lucky to escape the period down one. Just seconds after their goal, Croatia responded, putting Romania back down by two. Romania took a couple penalties early in the second, and had to play some time down two men. Not only did they kill those penalties, but they also managed to score shorthanded. Their penalty kill could not keep it up though, as Croatia scored the next two times a Romanian was sent to the box. Both teams swapped goals later in the period. Croatia scored early in the third. Romania added a couple of goals midway through the period, pulling within three goals. That was as close as the Romanian's would get, as Croatia added four more before the end of the game. Romania lost the high-scoring game 12-5./Against Great Britain, Romania managed to cut their goals against in half form last game. The Brits scored a pair in each period, while Romania struggled to get shots on Great Britain's net. Ervin Moldovan Horvath scored late in the game to break the shutout, as Romania ended the game on the wrong side of the 6-1 scoreline. Romania ended the tournament facing Estonia. They looked good in the first, outshooting their opponent 11-8, but the score remained 0-0. Estonia picked it up in the second, scoring three times. Romania had less shots than that, only registering two in the period. That was all for scoring, as the Romanians was shut out 3-0. Romania's five straight losses put them in sixth place, getting them relegated to Division II for next year.
