2016 World Junior Championship - Division I Group A Preview

Germany host this year's U20 Division I Group A tournament. The host will be looking to improve from last year's fifth place finish. Belarus is new to the group having been relegated from the main tournament, and will want to keep their stay a short one. France is also new to the group thanks to winning the Group B tournament last year. Austria, Kazakstan, and Norway are returnees to the group, and will all want to find a way to win the group.

Prediction

1 (Promoted) - Belarus
2 - Austria
3 - Germany
4 - Kazakhstan
5 - Norway
6 (Relegated) - France

Belarus' stay at this level will likely be a short one, as they win the tournament and make it back to the main stage for next year. The middle might be like last year, with four teams being within two points. I have Austria second, followed by the host Germans, Kazakhstan, and Norway (both the Kazakhs and Norwegians fall a spot from last year). the other newbies of the group, France, might see themselves back in Group B after all is said and done.
