Saturday Night Hockey: Suspensions and Relocations

Trevor Gillies Suspended...Again

Right after finishing a 9-game suspension, Trevor Gillies goes out his first game back and tops himself with a 10-gamer. Heres the hit:

After looking at the hit, the wrong guy got the call. Yes, Gillies is going to be an easy target after returning from a suspension and maybe there was contact to the head, but 10-games is a little excessive. I realize that a disciplinary hearing is at least 5, and 1 or 2 more games should be tacked on for any head contact (just to reinforce the head-shot rule), but other than that it was a relatively clean hit- at least in some angles-and in defense of a team (I’ll spare the instigator rant...for now). If anything Buttercup should have gotten the checking from behind penalty.

Winnipeg Time

TSN has started a Jets Meter, hoping that either the Coyotes or Thrashers will move there soon. At the risk of handing over my Canadian Passport: UGH.....Look, there would be nothing better than having another Canadian team in the NHL, but relocation isn’t the way to go. This is the most unpopular view-but I don’t care-the NHL should expand to Canada. This way, Winnipeg (and hopefully Quebec) get their team(s) and Bettman can keep avoid having to admit that the original relocating of those teams to be a mistake.

Quickly

Interesting stuff from researching Probert’s brain and...wait...Chris Nowitski? didn’t I beat him up in Raw 2?

Taylor Hall gets Goldie Howe hat trick, out for season.

Blake Geoffrion became the first 4th-generation NHL player. Now, continue the family tradition and go to Montreal.
