Both teams came out scoring in Game 1, with St. Louis and Chicago each taking a lead in the opening frame. Chicago would end the first period up a goal. It took nearly 2 periods, but St. Louis would tie the game late, with Jaden Schwartz sweeping the puck past Corey Crawford. This game would need just over 2 overtimes, as Alexander Steen scored 26 seconds into the third overtime to give St. Louis the series lead. The Blues looked to extend their lead in Game 2, scoring twice in the first. The Blackhawks would claw back though, getting one back in the second before scoring the tying and go-ahead goals in the third. Things took a turn for the worst for the Blackhawks, as Brent Seabrrok would get ejected for boarding David Backes (Seabrook would be suspended 3 games). Vladimir Tarasenko would score on the ensuing powerplay, and would force overtime. Game 2's overtime didn't last too long, as Barret Jackman would finish the game 6 minutes into the extra frame. Chicago would cut into St. Louis' series lead in Game 3. Crawford would stop all 34 Blues shots he would face, while Jonathan Toews and Marcus Kruger would score in the 2-0 win. Chicago would be the ones that needed a (kind of) late goal in Game 4. After giving up a 2-goal lead, Bryan Bickell would redirect the puck past Ryan Miller with 4 minutes left in regulation. Patrick Kane would score in overtime to tie the series at 2-all. Another game, another overtime, as the Blackhawks would exchange goals in Game 5 to push a fourth game to overtime. In OT, St. Louis' defense would be caught in a bad change, allowing Toews to break-in alone against Miller and score on the backhand. With the Game 5 win, the Blackhawks would take the series lead for the first time. Facing elimination, the Blues were able to escape the first period tied at ones. St. Louis poured it on in the second, but Crawford would stone them. It all unravelled in the third, as the Blackhawks scored twice in the first 2 minutes, them going on to win the game 5-1. The Blackhawks eliminate the Blues 6 games, and are off to the second round.

Three Thoughts on the Series
- Can we just have these two teams advance to the second round and play again? This was the series of the first round.
- St. Louis basically suffered DĂ©ja vu in this series.
- If you were outraged by the "Wakey Wakey Backes" comment, then sit down, I have some bad news for you...
Quenneville goes a little nutty over a non-call.
Highlight of the Series
Captain Serious becomes Captain Clutch in overtime.
