Showing Some International Love: 2015 IIHF World Championship Preview - Division II Group B

South Africa is the host of the Division II Group B tournament this year, and will look to stay up and avoid relegation like last year. Bulgaria is newly promoted from Division III and will want to stay up as well. Israel was relegated to Group B after a poor showing in Group A last year. Mexico will look to fight for promotion after just missing out last year, while China and New Zealand look to surprise a few teams.

Prediction

1 (Promoted) - Mexico
2 - New Zealand
3 - China
4 - Israel
5 - South Africa
6 (Relegated) - Bulgaria

I have Mexico finding their way to a promotion. They only lost one game last year, and it was against the eventual champions (Spain). The rest of the medals are tricky. New Zealand has stayed in the middle for a while but can take a step forward this year. China is a question mark, but could end up with the bronze. Israel's roster looks weaker than last year's Group A one, and I don't think they'll have enough to fight for the promotion. They should fight for a medal, but may end up just missing out. The bottom of the standings will be a battle to avoid relegation. I like the home side South Africa to stay up, as Bulgaria is suppose to be weaker than last year. Bulgaria will go back down to Division III.
