Showing Some International Love: 2016 IIHF World Championship Preview - Division I Group B

The Division I Group B tournament of the World Championship takes place in Croatia, and the host look to rebound after falling to fourth last year. Joining the group this year is Ukraine, who were relegated from Group A. Also new to the group is Romania, as they won Division II Group A last year to earn their spot. Great Britain is back, hoping to win promotion this year after coming agonizingly close last year. Lithuania hopes to go from playing spoiler (they beat Great Britain to keep them here) to the top of the group. Rounding out the group is Estonia, who managed to stay up in this group thanks to a last-day win last year.

Prediction

1 (Promoted) - Great Britain
2 - Croatia
3 - Ukraine
4 - Lithuania
5 - Estonia
6 (Relegated) - Romania

Great Britain was oh-so-close last year, and I think they've learned and will break through this time. Croatia will keep it close though, as the host have a strong enough roster (on paper) to earn top spot. Ukraine's stay might be longer than they think. I'm not confident they will find a way to end up in first (watch them prove me wrong). Ukraine should still end up on the podium. Lithuania missing Mantas Armalis in net is a huge blow, as they'd be a favourite with him. I'm guessing they take a step back and end up in fourth. Estonia just avoid relegation last year, but it looks to be different this year. They should have less trouble this time staying at this level. Romania, on the other hand, should be in trouble. Their stay at Division I might be one-and-done.
