Series Summary
The only series where I got both the team AND amount of games right. Both teams started Game 1 with a powerplay goal in the first, then Teemu Selanne scored an early third period goal that stood as the winner. Detroit come out in Game 2 hoping to tie the series up. 2 quick goals in the first gave the Red Wings a lead. They did score an early second period goal too, then the Ducks finally broke the shutout. The Wings again got an early goal in the third, make it a 4-1 game. Anaheim did come back with 3 unanswered goals and took the game to overtime. In OT, Gustav Nyquist finished off a pass from Valtteri Filppula, which tied the series at 1 game each. Anaheim took back the series lead in Game 3, as Jonas Hiller made 23 saves for the shutout. The Ducks looked to extend the lead in Game 4, scoring a couple minutes into the first. It wasn't until early in the third when the Wings tied the game up. After each adding a goal, Damien Brunner potted home a rebound and tied the series back up. Game 5 produced another overtime game, but with a different result. The Ducks Nick Bonino scored just under 2 minutes in overtime and again Anaheim had the series lead. In Game 6, Detroit was able to get a 3-1 lead, but a collapse in the last 5 minutes allowed Anaheim to tie the game up. Overtime wasn't long though, as Henrik Zetterberg scored just over a minute in to force a Game 7. The final game saw Detroit take another 3-1 lead. Anaheim did battle back and got another goal, but failed to get the tying goal. The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Anaheim Ducks in 7 games and are going to face the Chicago Blackhawks in Round 2.

Three Thoughts On The Series
- I thought Boudreau was going to give both Jonas Hiller and Viktor Fasth time in the playoffs, but only Hiller played.
- It is pretty amazing that each team swapped wins through the first six games.
- Detroit: Blowing leads and winning in overtime since Game 2.
I don't have anything to put here. We can all agree though that it shouldn't be the last of Teemu. ONE MORE YEAR! ONE MORE YEAR!

Play Of The Series
Nyquist got the goal, but Filppula did the amazing work that allowed the goal to happen.
