Showing Some International Love: 2014 World Junior Championship - Division I Group B Preview

The World Junior Championship officially kicked off today in Dumfries, Great Britain (mmmmmmm...Dumfries). Since this preview is a bit late, I'll forgo the notables and get right into it.

Prediction

1 (Promoted) - France
2 - Kazakhstan
3 - Ukraine
4 - Great Britain
5 - Italy
6 (Relegated) - Japan

France was relegated here from Group A and I have a hard time believeing they will be here next year. Kazakhstan was so close last year (a point off), but with a stiffer competition in France I can't see them getting the promotion. Ukraine will probably be in the same spot as Kazakhstan, could fight for the promotion but highly unlikely they get it. The host Great Britain did enough to survive last year, being the host this year I can see them getting a bump up in the standings. Italy takes a fall from third last year, but still hangs around. Japan will likely be heading back to Division II next year.
